Job Description

POSITION: Senior DevOps Manager

LOCATION: Anywhere, Remote position with virtual presence

TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent position

SALARY: Market-related, depending on skills, qualifications & experience

STARTING DATE: ASAP/Immediately (URGENT)

JOB PURPOSE:

Our client is a force to reckon with in the digital tech space and they are looking for a talented, hip, vibrant, energetic & dynamic Senior DevOps Manager, who is a strong leader with exceptional management & organizational skills, passionate about managing large scale and high volume cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, proficient in Linux based systems & familiar with Chef.

 

As the DevOps Manager, you will define, implement, and drive best practices in DevOps technologies, and philosophies. Your team will build and operate large-scale systems to ensure security, high availability, and scalability within their platform. You will develop tools and processes that enable their teams to deliver continuously, deploying dozens of times a day in a seamless and coordinated effort. Additionally, you will promote a strong reliability culture by partnering with software engineering, security, and architecture to solve operational problems.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Highly organized with excellent time & project management skills
  • Passionate about managing large scale and high volume cloud-based infrastructure on AWS
  • Leadership experience as a technical lead, team lead, or manager
  • Experienced working closely with full Product Teams (Product Managers, Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, & Operations roles) to deliver an experience to customers
  • Have analyzed business requirements with technical solution costs to provide win-win scenarios
  • 5-7+ years of progressive DevOps engineering or related experience with gradually increasing responsibilities
  • A demonstrated understanding of DevOps and technical quality control processes, artifacts and tools
  • 2-3+ years of DevOps leadership or management experience
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and the ability to apply their requirements and concepts to a complex environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication and diplomacy skills, as well as a passion for leading
  • BS or MS in related industry/field or equivalent experience (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems)
  • Strong hands-on technical experience, knowledge, and understanding of:
    • Delivering web applications on public clouds such as AWS
    • Configuration Management, automation, & Infrastructure as Code
    • CICD practices and tools
    • Proficient in Linux based systems
    • Familiar with Chef
    • Experience with Relational Databases
    • Experience with NoSQL databases a plus.
  • An ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to detail
  • An ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship-building skills, and ability to achieve results without
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality work, both personally and at a team level
  • Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management
